Scheuermann entered the Franciscan order in 1762 and belonged to the Central Monastery in Kaisheim . In his time he was considered a very good organist and composed several masses and litanies for his order, which, in the judgment of contemporaries, "are distinguished by the dignity of the church style and pleasant melodies and which were performed with great applause everywhere in the monasteries of this order".
