The flail , whether flail or flail as a weapon, is a common figure in heraldry and is found quite often as a coat of arms. In addition to the simple representation of a flail, it can also be crossed in the coat of arms with a second flail or with a garden tool such as a rake , scythe or pitchfork . The representation is often used as a reference to agriculture that shaped the city or town. In the Flegel's weapon representation, the morning star is often used as a heraldic figure , as a sign of defensibility. As a tincture dominated silver or gold.
