Aviator, brave aviator

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aviator, brave aviator is the refrain of the “aviator song” that the American-Bohemian film composer John Stepan Zamecnik wrote in 1927 for William A. Wellman's large-scale silent aviator epic “ Wings ”, a Paramount production that took place during the First World War . The through-composed illustration music for the film also came from him. A German text on the English original Fly, wings…! wrote Kurt Schwabach . The song was published in Germany in 1928 by Sam-Fox-Musikverlag Berlin.

Movie

The film was distributed by Parufamet to German cinemas in early 1929 . Just in time for the premiere, sheet music and gramophone records with the “Fliegerlied” from it appeared on the market. Several well-known bands from the 1920s recorded it.

JS Zamecnik's aviator song “Flieger, brave Flieger” from 1927 should not be confused with the aviator song “Flieger, greet 'mir die Sonne” from the sound film “FP1 does not answer” from 1932, written by Allan Gray and Walter Reisch . The “brave aviator” in it was Hans Albers , who also performed the song.

Refrain

Aviator, brave aviator, I am with you
even in the distance
.
Brave aviator,
conqueror of heaven,
do you see the stars, give
them my regards!

In all storms
you will be sheltered.
My hot pleading for your happiness,
aviator, brave aviator, will
you come back to me then ?

Music by JS Zamecnik, words by Kurt Schwabach
