The Aviation Observation School was a reconnaissance and training unit in Königsberg at the beginning of military airship travel.

history

On August 5th, 1810 Prof. Robertson's first balloon ascent from Schlossplatz; he ended up in quandits. In 1906 the attraction of the Königsberg zoo was a tethered balloon of the association for airship travel. He climbed to a height of 300 meters with 15 passengers. The trip cost 3 marks. In 1913 four air battalions , each with three companies , were formed in the Prussian army :

  • Doberitz ,
  • Cologne with Hanover and Darmstadt
  • Strasbourg with Metz and Freiburg
  • Graudenz with Königsberg

Königsberg was reserved for military airship travel in the form of pilot training and observation. In 1913, a large airship hangar was built north of Amalienau , which housed zeppelins and tethered balloons for exploration and training flights. The hall had to be demolished in 1919 as part of the Versailles Treaty . On August 24, 1930, the last landed airship Graf Zeppelin on the airport Devau .
