Freiwaldau Air Base
The airbase Freiwaldau was an air base of the Air Force of the Armed Forces near the Lower Silesia Freiwaldau .
history
The air base was rebuilt in 1936. There was a middle transportable hangar and two workshops northwest of the runway, which was grassy. In the north there were accommodation barracks. From 1936 the air base served the training of pilots on single and twin-engine fighters. In addition, various aviation schools were located here until 1942. The following table shows a list of selected active flying units (excluding school and supplementary associations) that were stationed here between 1939 and 1945.

In April Freiwaldau still served the Red Army as a front airfield for various fighter regiments of the 9th Guards Fighter Division equipped with P-39s . After the end of the war, the Polish air forces used the area for a while as a reserve airfield in Borowe (Burau). Freiwaldau has been called Gozdnica since 1945 and is located in the Polish Lebus Voivodeship .
