Flo Sitzmann

Florian "Flo" Sitzmann (born September 7, 1976 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German disabled athlete and author . He is known for his success as a handbiker in international competitions such as the Paralympics .

Life

Florian Sitzmann lost both legs in a serious motorcycle accident in 1992 at the age of 15. He spent around two years in hospitals, had 50 operations and two years of rehabilitation. In 2000 he started practicing various (disabled) sports.

Since 2002 he has been a successful handbiker with several titles as German champion, a World Championship silver medal and participation in the 2004 Paralympics in Athens . He sees the highlight of his career as his participation in the 560 kilometer Styrkeprøven race in 2006, which he completed after 30 hours and 30 minutes non-stop. His handbike record on this route is still unbroken today.

Florian Sitzmann is a frequent guest on talk shows and reports on his difficult career and the strength and motivation to never give up. He is married and has three children.
