The Nggela Islands , formerly often referred to as the Florida Islands , are a group of islands in the central province of the Solomon Islands . The archipelago has an area of 368 km². The highest point is 400 m high. In 1977 there were 7044 inhabitants on the archipelago. Today the population of the entire province is given as around 26,000, of which smaller parts also live on Savo and the Russell Islands .

The Nggela group includes the following islands:
- Nggela Sule ( Great Nggela )
- Nggela Pile ( Little Nggela )
- Tulagi
- Gavutu
- Tanambogo
- Mboko ni Mbeti
Nggela Sule (in the west) and Nggela Pile (in the east) are only separated from each other by the narrow strait Mboli Passage (formerly Utuha Passage ), which is 140 to 300 meters wide over a length of more than five kilometers and is its narrowest area acts like a river.
