Flight movement

In aviation, flight movement is the general term for take-offs and landings . The number of flight movements per time span is used as a statistical variable, primarily for describing and evaluating the capacity and utilization of airfields . The take-off and landing count as individual flight movements. With regard to aircraft noise - in addition to numerous other factors - the number of aircraft movements and their distribution over the course of the day play an important role. Large commercial airports such as Hartsfield – Jackson Atlanta International Airport currently handle up to 950,000 flight movements per year.

In the context of air traffic control and military airspace monitoring , the term flight movement can also generally be understood to mean the movement of an aircraft in the monitored airspace .
