Airfield race Vienna-Aspern 1957
The second international airfield race Vienna-Aspern , also GP Vienna, airfield race Vienna-Aspern , took place on April 28, 1957 at Aspern Airport . The race was not part of any racing series.
The race
Since 1956, car races have been held at Aspern Airport, which opened in 1912 in the 22nd district of Vienna, Donaustadt . In 1957 there were four races in one day. The race for GT vehicles over 1.6 liter was won by the German industrialist Kurt Zeller , the event for GT cars under 1.6 liter by the Austrian Ernst Vogel . After another GT race (vehicles up to 1.3 liter displacement), which the Englishman Tony Hogg won in a Lotus Eleven , the highlight of the day followed; the sports car race, where Scuderia Ferrari also reported. The three works cars celebrated a triple victory. Willy Daetwyler won in a Ferrari 750 Monza ahead of François Picard and Gino Munaron , who each drove a Ferrari 500TR .
