The Air Traffic Control Academy is a facility affiliated with the German Air Traffic Control System (DFS) and is based in Langen (Hesse) .

It is the central training and further education center for air traffic controllers , ATM specialists, air traffic control technicians (ATSEP) and engineers as well as flight consultants in Germany. The academy not only trains DFS employees, but also offers services for external customers such as foreign air navigation service providers or regional airports. At the same time, the academy is training almost 200 trainees to become air traffic controllers, air traffic control engineers, IT specialists and air traffic managers. The internal ICAO code for the academy used for training purposes is EDDY.

The air traffic control academy had its own guest house on the DFS campus, which was demolished in 2017.

In the building of the air traffic control academy is also the education and conference center (BTZ) of the German weather service (DWD), which operated under the name weather service school until 1997 and was located in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse before 1988 .

On January 1, 2017, the training for military air traffic control was transferred from the Kaufbeuren Air Base to the newly founded Kaufbeuren ATM Training GmbH (subsidiary of DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH), which has since been part of a public-private partnership in cooperation with the Bundeswehr - and carries out training for all military air traffic control personnel.
