When plane crash of Raunheim of January 28, 1952 crashed in the morning a transport aircraft of the US Air Force in the Hessian town Raunheim . The Fairchild C-82 with registration number 45-57791 and serial number 10161 was flying in formation with eleven other aircraft of the same type when it suddenly caught fire.
Three residents of the house at Haßlocher Strasse 28 as well as a dog and a goat were killed. The five-man crew of the aircraft could jump off with the parachute. The commander had tried to determine the trajectory of the burning machine in advance so that it would crash in the open. However, the plane brushed against a mast and was thereby directed precisely towards the only two houses in the vicinity.
