Fluid ounce

Fluid ounce ("liquid ounce ") is a unit of measurement of space (liquid, apothecary measure ) of the Anglo-American system of measurement . A distinction is made between Imperial fluid ounce, an imperial unit of measurement , which has its origin in Great Britain, and United States fluid ounce , a US-American unit of measurement, which is part of the United States customary units . The unit symbol is either Imp.fl.oz. or US fl.oz.

Unless the context is clear, is sometimes only briefly oz written, which in general but a likelihood of confusion with the so abbreviated unit of weight ounce (English ounce produced).

In America z. B. a typical sales size for beer cans or other beverages 12 fl.oz., which corresponds to 0.3549 liters.
