Fluorotelomer alcohol ( FTOH ) are a to the poly -fluorinated surfactants belonging substance group . The general empirical formula is CF 3 (CF 2 ) n CH 2 CH 2 OH, where n can only be odd.

FTOH are made by telomerization .

Synthetic fiber coatings are made from FTOH, which refine textiles, carpets and building products by integrating the water and grease repellent properties into them.
