Fluorotelomer alcohol ( FTOH ) are a to the poly -fluorinated surfactants belonging substance group . The general empirical formula is CF ₃ (CF ₂ ) _n CH ₂ CH ₂ OH, where n can only be odd.

FTOH are made by telomerization .

Synthetic fiber coatings are made from FTOH, which refine textiles, carpets and building products by integrating the water and grease repellent properties into them.
