Flux guide

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Magnetic proximity switch with increased sensitivity through field guidance

A flux guide or flux concentrator is a component made of a magnetically highly permeable material (e.g. soft iron ) which, due to this property , concentrates (amplifies) or (further) conducts the magnetic flux of a magnetic field acting on the guide , e.g. B. to a permanent magnet (for example when magnetizing the same) or to a magnetic field sensor (for example to increase its sensitivity or to change the measuring axis).

Flux guide pieces are also used for galvanically separated current sensors , e.g. B. in a clamp meter .

Flux guide pieces are also used in electric motors and generators (as pole pieces ), loudspeakers and microphones and, more recently, in induction heating devices.

With the general trend towards miniaturization , flux guide elements are now also applied to integrated circuits with magnetically active sensor elements.
