Fluvial

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fluvial (lat. Belonging to the river ) means that an object or a condition is caused by flowing water or is related to it.

If, for example, erosion can be traced back to the effects of rivers , it is called fluvial erosion. The process of deposition by rivers on their bottom or banks is known as fluvia (ti) le sedimentation . If this process outweighs the simultaneous general erosion, it is called aggradation . Fluvial sediments are the deposits caused by fluvial sedimentation.

A river activity in connection with glaciers is called fluvioglacial - see also glaciology .
