construction and development

The aircraft designer Aki Suokas has been working with his team on this so far unique flying boat concept for several years . The idea of the project was to make flying possible for private individuals at a low price, with environmentally friendly operation and ease of use. The aircraft was designed according to the specifications of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale microlight rules and the US FAR 103 Ultralight regulations. The aircraft, made entirely of carbon fiber reinforced plastic , has a curb weight of only 70 kilograms, is 3.5 meters long, 1.3 meters high and has a wingspan of 4.8 meters. The permissible total weight is 200 kilograms.

The staggered cantilever wings and closed by the closed wing concept to make FlyNano biplane. The wings can be removed for transport. The electric motor and propeller are mounted above the single-seat open cockpit. The hull is designed for water operations only and has no landing gear.

Flight data

The reachable summit height is 3,000 meters. The top speed is specified as 140 km / h, the range has so far been specified as 70 kilometers. The rudder is operated with pedals, while the combined ailerons, elevators and thrust are controlled with a stick.

Prices

The unit price is quoted by the manufacturer at around 33,000 euros. There is also a transport and storage trailer designed for the dimensions of the machine for EUR 5,300.

Orders

The company had already received orders for 35 machines in mid-2012. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2013 [obsolete] . Due to its low curb weight, you don't need a license in Finland to fly the FlyNano. The form in which the UL can be approved in Germany has not yet been clarified. In addition, permits from the water and shipping authorities would also be required in Germany for aircraft to take off and land on bodies of water.
