The AERO Friedrichshafen is an international trade show for the General Aviation . It takes place annually on the grounds of Messe Friedrichshafen and the adjacent Friedrichshafen Airport .

history

In March 1977, a special aviation show took place for the first time at the Friedrichshafen exhibition center as part of the RMF (Rennsport-Motor-Freizeit) motor show. From March 16-19, 1978, the first air sports exhibition with around 30 exhibitors was held parallel to the RMF. After a break in 1980, the third fair took place in 1981 with more than 50 exhibitors. At the same time, the two-year cycle was introduced this year. In 1983 the trade fair double was first held under the new name RMF - AERO. Since separating from RMF in 1993, the aerospace trade fair has been officially called "AERO Friedrichshafen - International Trade Fair for General Aviation".

AERO Friedrichshafen has been held annually since 2010. In 2011, the e-flight-expo, an area for electric aircraft, was introduced as part of AERO Friedrichshafen . Since 2013, the area for unmanned civil drones has also been shown under the name AERODrones (UAS Expo) . The world's first airshow for electric aircraft is planned for the 25th AERO Friedrichshafen 2017.

With over 650 exhibitors and around 35,000 trade visitors (as of 2016), AERO Friedrichshafen is, by its own account, Europe's largest and most important trade fair for general aviation , i.e. the individual part of civil aviation excluding scheduled and charter traffic . Business and private planes will be on display - from gliders to ultralight aircraft , gyrocopters , single and twin-engine planes to medium-sized business jets.

AERO Friedrichshafen takes place on the grounds of the New Friedrichshafen Exhibition Center and the adjacent Friedrichshafen Airport . And which is located immediately adjacent to the exhibition grounds in the grounds Zeppelin hangar of Zeppelin airship technology .

AERO ASIA

In October 2015, the first Aero Asia was to be held in Zhuhai in cooperation with the Airshow China . However, this event had to be postponed due to construction work on the exhibition grounds in Zhuhai (new building for the Airshow China 2016). Messe Friedrichshafen is currently examining suitable locations in China. The first AERO ASIA is due to start in autumn 2018.
