Peter Randt

Peter Randt (born January 24, 1941 in Güstrow ) is a former German handball player .

Life

Randt, who comes from the Unity Güstrow association, attended the children's and youth sports school in Güstrow . He went to Leipzig , where he studied at the German University of Physical Culture (DHfK). In 1970 he obtained his diploma with a thesis entitled "About blow throws with lateral inclination of the body to the opposite side of the throw". The 1.82 meter tall backcourt player won the European Champion's Cup with the SC DHfK Leipzig in 1966 under coach Hans-Gert Stein .

Randt (nickname: Pit) moved to SC Empor Rostock , where he was youth coach (from 1973) and assistant to coach Klaus Langhoff in the league team. At the end of the 1980s he was in charge of the GDR junior team as a coach. After the reunification he moved to Bad Säckingen , worked in a rehabilitation clinic and as a handball trainer.

In the squad of the GDR men's national handball team , Peter Randt played at the World Cup in 1967 and was runner-up in the 1970 World Cup. At the 1972 Olympics Randt threw twelve goals in six games for the GDR team . He came to a total of 116 internationals.

Randt was also a talented athlete , he covered the 100 meters in hand-stopped eleven seconds, in the high jump he posted a record of 1.80 meters and in the long jump he stayed just under seven meters.
