On motor yachts, a flybridge is used as a control unit and location in good weather. On such boats there is usually also a main steering position - either as a separate navigating bridge or in the saloon of the yacht. An example of flybridges on service ships are the upper, open control units on older models of rescue cruisers in service with the German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked People (DGzRS) .
