Flying J is a US company headquartered in Ogden , Utah . The company operates gas stations in the United States and is the largest supplier of diesel fuel . The company also offers services in the areas of insurance, telecommunications, financial transactions and vehicle repairs as part of its petrol station network. The company was founded by O. Jay Call in 1968. The founder died in a plane crash in 2003. The company has around 15,900 employees (as of 2009). According to Forbes magazine , the company is one of the top 20 unlisted companies in the United States.

On December 22, 2008, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The realization of the "Travel Plazas" planned in Germany (including on the A 7 near Evendorf in the Harburg district) is therefore questionable.

In 2010, the company went Pilot Flying J on.
