Folpert van Arkel van der Leede

Folpert van Arkel van der Leede (* around 1115; † 1140 ) from the first house of van Arkel was the 1st lord of Ter Leede and lord of Polsbroek .

His parents were Johan III. van Arkel and Adelheid (Aleid) van Heusden. After his father's death, Folpert inherited the Van der Leede area (today's Leerdam ), founded the glory and the Van der Leede house. His older brother Johan IV. Van Arkel inherited the Land van Arkel and continued the main line of the family. In the Gelderian Almachen he was mentioned as a fraudulent sovereign. Folpert was married to a now unknown noble lady and became the father of the herbarian I. van der Leede . The poet Anthony Christiaan Winand Staring wrote a poem about him.
