Glory Ter Leede
The glory Ter Le (e) de , also Van der Le (e) de, was a Dutch high glory in the area of today's municipality Vijfheerenlanden . The glory had existed between the years 1115/1118 and 1305.
history
The area Van der Leede was in the triangle of the places Leerbroek , Asperen and Heukelum with the central points Leerdam and the river Linge . As part of the Landes van Arkel , the Leede was ruled by the first House of Arkel . Over the years, the Arkls have been able to acquire the magnificent rights over Schoonhoven , various countries on the Lek River and the Krimpenerwaard estate. Unlike the Land van Arkel, these newly won areas were under the feudal rule of the Utrecht Cathedral Chapter . In 1115 (1118) Johan III divided. van Arkel for his son Folpert van Arkel van der Leede the glory Ter Leede from the Land van Arkel. The Heren van der Leede tried hard to keep their property and carried out various smaller conflicts against Gelderische noblemen . In 1304, Johan II van der Leede, the last Mr. Ter Leede, died. In 1305 Johan III. from the second house the glory Ter Leede returned from the county of Holland , which he later incorporated back into the Land van Arkel.
