The Eichenkratt forests near Berensch are a nature reserve consisting of several parts in the Berensch-Arensch district of the Lower Saxony city of Cuxhaven .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 086 is a total of 23.5 hectares. 19.4 hectares are part of the FFH area "coastal heaths and Kratt forests near Cuxhaven". The area, which has been under nature protection since December 30, 1982, was originally around 30.5 hectares in size. Part of the part of the nature reserve located southwest of Berensch on the edge of the Geest was later incorporated into the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park . The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the city of Cuxhaven.
The nature reserve is located in the southwest of the city of Cuxhaven around the Berensch district. It consists of several of oak, birch and aspen formed Eichenkrattwäldern with transitions to Heiden , dunes and Geest cliff.
