from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Herbaren II. Van der Leede van Arkel (* around 1205 in Langerak , † before 1258 ) was a Dutch nobleman from the family of the Lords of Arkel . After the first house died out, he founded the second house of the Arkels. He was Mr. Ter Leede , Mr. von Polsbroek and from 1234 owned by the Landes van Arkel .

Herbaren's parents were Floris Herbaren van der Leede , Mr. Ter Leede (today's Leerdam ). In 1227 he was knighted and took part in the battle of Ane under the leadership of the Utrecht bishop Otto II von Lippe . In 1230 he received the Heukelom fief and was also known as the lord of Liesveld and Nieuwpoort . In 1234 he inherited the land of Arkel from the late Jan VII van Arkel (the last lord van Arkel from the 1st house). Herbaren handed over the glory of Ter Leede to his younger brother Johan I. van der Leede and kept the land of Arkel himself. Herbaren had five children:

  • Jan († 1264)
  • Herbaren, Mr. van den Berghe
  • Otto, Herr von Heukelom and Asperen
