Fontaine du Perron

The Fontaine du Perron is a fountain in Nivelles . It was built in 1523 by order of Adrienne I of St. Omer (1522–1548 Abbess of Nivelles ). The fountain in the Gothic style stands on the square in the immediate vicinity of the Collegiate Church of Saint Gertrude .

Since 1618 at the latest there has been a statue of Archduke Albrecht VII of Austria , the then regent of the Spanish Netherlands , to which Nivelles belonged. In 1922 it was replaced by a statue of the city patron Michael , created by the sculptor Marcel Collet. The listed fountain was extensively restored in 1984.
