history

Before Food Network Canada began broadcasting, the US channel Food Network had been available in Canada since 1997. He enjoyed increasing popularity, so it was decided to found a Canadian version of the US television channel in order to generate additional advertising income. With the receipt of the broadcasting license from the Canadian Radio and Television Commission (CRTC) , the station went on the air in October of the same year. The US broadcaster ceased broadcasting with the launch of the Canadian version.

On January 18, 2008, a joint venture between Canwest and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners, also known as CW Media, took place. CW Media took over Alliance Atlantis, the operator of the station at that time and the station was now part of CW Media.
