Food Security Center

The Food Security Center (also called FSC ) is a center of excellence for exchange and development at the University of Hohenheim and is part of the DAAD program exceed - University in Development Cooperation, which is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) . It makes an innovative and impact-oriented scientific contribution worldwide to reducing hunger and improving food security and thus contributes to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular to "zero hunger" (SDG 2) and "no poverty" (SDG 1) , at. Based on an interdisciplinary approach in teaching, research and policy advice, the Food Security Center works closely with national and international organizations as well as institutions in higher education from developing countries. In addition to the availability of food, research topics include access to and use of it, as well as the quality and safety of food and its utilization. Particular reference is made to the role of the sexes and the sustainability of the agricultural production process and value chains.
