Foret de Chaux

The Forêt de Chaux ( Chaux Forest) is a 204 km² forest area in the Jura department in France , east of Dole between the Doubs and Loue rivers.

Until the 19th century, the wood of the Forêt de Chaux was used to fire the salt pans in Arc-et-Senans , for the extraction of charcoal and for local industries, e.g. B. the pottery.

The Sapin Président, a spruce that is over 250 years old and 43 m high, is worth seeing .
