action

Batman , Robin, and Wonder Woman visit Solitude Fortress to celebrate Superman's birthday. But there they find the man of steel standing there as if hypnotized, while a strange-looking plant protrudes from his chest. Then the intergalactic conqueror Mongul appears and tells them that he gave this “gift” to Superman with a ruse.

The plant known as Black Mercy gives Superman the illusion of what would have happened if his home planet Krypton had not exploded. In this illusion, Kal-El leads a peaceful life and has a family on Krypton. His father Jor-El, on the other hand, has many problems. Because of his error regarding the fall of Krypton, he was expelled from the Council of Wise Men and there are demonstrations about it.

Meanwhile, Mongul fights against Superman's friends in the Fortress of Solitude so that they do not thwart his plans. Since Batman and Wonder Woman are not physically up to him, Robin tries to free Superman from the plant with the help of special gloves. When it succeeds, the steel man is furious with Mongul's act. After a fierce fight, Robin drops the plant on Mongul and thus takes possession of it himself. Mongul now sees in his illusion what great victories he could have achieved if he had beaten Superman when they first met.
