Dave Gibbons (born April 14, 1949 ) is a British illustrator who has been drawing comics since 1973 .

Life and accomplishments

He began his work in the field for the influential British magazine 2000 AD and illustrated well-known comics such as Doctor Who , Harlem Heroes , Dan Dare and the Rogue Trooper he co-founded . In 1982 he began to draw the Green Lantern for the American publisher DC Comics ; since then he has drawn for Superman and Batman along with numerous other DC series .

In 1986/1987 he and Alan Moore created the highly acclaimed twelve-part series Watchmen , which was awarded a Hugo ; one of the first ever comic book cycles to appear as a graphic novel . Among his many other works is the miniseries Give Me Liberty (in collaboration with Frank Miller ) and the graphic novel The Originals .

Dave Gibbons was also responsible for the graphic design of the computer games Lure of the Temptress and Beneath a Steel Sky .

He is married and lives in England with his wife and son.
