Vereinigung Norden ( Danish and Norwegian : Foreningen Norden , Swedish : Föreningen Norden , Finnish : Pohjola-Norden , Icelandic : Norræna félagið ) is an association represented in the Nordic countries to promote cultural and political cooperation between the individual Nordic countries. The association's projects include the Nordjobb exchange program and the annual Nordic Library Days. The association cooperates with the Nordic Council in many areas .

The association appears primarily through the sections in the individual countries. The largest single club is Föreningen Norden in Sweden with almost 30,000 members. Further individual clubs can be found in Denmark (including South Schleswig ), Norway , Finland , Åland , Iceland , Greenland and the Faroe Islands . The common umbrella organization has been Foreningerne Nordens Forbund (Association of Nordic Associations) since 1965 with around 72,000 members (as of 2000). The individual national sections were founded immediately after the First World War. In 1933 and 1934 the association was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
