Forestville is a city in Sonoma County , California .

Forestville is centrally located in Sonoma County, about 100 km north of San Francisco and covers an area of ​​10.6 square kilometers. A few kilometers east of the city the Laguna de Santa Rosa flows into the Mark West Creek , which flows into the Russian River at the point where the latter river bends a few kilometers north of the city coming from the north to the west. In the south of the city are the only occurrences of the endangered Lilium pardalinum subsp. pitkinense and Carex albida . There are several vineyards and apple orchards in the hilly south and east of the city.

The city was founded in the late 1860s and was originally spelled Forrestville after one of its founders, but the second "r" was omitted over time. Most of the city burned down in a fire, so most of the buildings date from the early 20th century.

Demographics

The 2,370 inhabitants found in the 2000 census lived in 941 households, 592 of them were families. The population density was 223 per square kilometer. The population was 89.3 percent White, 1.1 percent African American, 1.2 percent American Indian, 1.6 percent Asian, and 0.2 percent Pacific Islander; 2.8 percent said other races, 3.8 percent said several races.

The median household income was $ 50,898 and the family income was $ 60,417.
