The Research Institute for Music of the Academy of the Arts of China ( Chinese  中國 藝術 研究院 音樂 研究所  /  中国 艺术 研究院 音乐 研究所 , Pinyin Zhōngguó yìshù yánjiūyuàn Yīnyuè yánjiūsuǒ , English Research Institute for Music of the Chinese Academy of Arts ) was founded in 1954 in Beijing (Beijing) founded. It was initially directed by the music historian Yang Yinliu . The focus is on taking stock and researching traditional music in China . The institute has issued several major collections of traditional music from China, including the following broad compilations:

  • Zhongguo minjian gequ jicheng 中国 民间 歌曲 集成 (Collection of Chinese Folk Songs)
  • Zhongguo minzu minjian qiyuequ jicheng 中国 民族 民间 器 乐曲 集成 (Collection of traditional folk instrumental music of the nationalities of China)
  • Zhongguo quyi yinyue jicheng 中国 曲艺 音乐 集成 (Collection of Quyi Music of China)
  • Zhongguo shuochang yinyue jicheng 中国 说唱 音乐 集成 (Collection of Shuochang Music from China)
  • Zhongguo xiqu yinyue jicheng 中国 戏曲 音乐 集成 (Collection of Chinese Traditional Opera Music)
  • Zhongguo qinqu jicheng 中国 琴曲 集成 (Collection of guqin music from China)

Under the entry "Traditional Sound Music Archives", the collections of the archive have been included in the list of world heritage documents by UNESCO .
