Telecommunications Research Center Vienna

The Forschungszentrum Telekommunikation Wien (FTW) was a non-university research institution based in Vienna, which was founded in 1998 and where research in the field of information and communication technology was carried out until 2015 . The main location of the FTW was in Tech Gate Vienna . From 2010 there was also a branch at the Graz University of Technology . In 2009 the FTW employed around 70 people.

history

The FTW Telecommunications Research Center in Vienna was founded on December 21, 1998. In 2000 the FTW Forschungszentrum Telekommunikation Wien GmbH was founded . In the period from 1999 to 2006, the FTW was funded by the FFG's Kplus program . In 2007, together with VRVis, an application for funding for a K2 center was submitted to the FFG , but this was not approved. In the period from 2008 to 2015, the FTW was as K1 center by the COMET program of the FFG promoted. Since a further funding period as a K1 center was not approved in 2014, the GmbH was liquidated in 2015 and operations ceased at the end of 2015.
