Fort Leonard Wood

Fort Leonard Wood is a US Army - Garrison in the Ozark Mountains in Pulaski County (Missouri) .

history

The garrison was established from 1940 and named after General Leonard Wood in 1941. The Engineer Replacement Training Center was initially located in Fort Leonard Wood. German and Italian prisoners of war were later interned there. From 1987 the United States Army Engineer School was relocated to Fort Leonard Wood. Historically and up to the present day, the garrison has mainly housed training facilities for the US Army.
