The United States Army Engineer School ( USAES ) (dt "US Army Engineer (. Pioneer -) school") is located in Fort Leonard Wood , in the State of Missouri and offers the Engineer Basic Officer Leader Course Phase III (EBOLC III) (German "Basic Officer Course for Pioneers"). The course lasts about 40 weeks. When an officer in the US Army has received his patent , he can be delegated to the Army Engineer School to study combat engineering , general engineering and geospatial engineering ( German "Geological Engineering").

The educational institution dates back to 1778 and has had several locations since then. In 1988 the school was moved from Fort Belvoir to Fort Leonard Wood . The US Army Engineer School is a facility of the US Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) to which it is subordinate.

EBOLC III

The EBOLC III has been specially set up for second lieutenants . Enrolling at the Army Engineer School is only possible after a selection process, as there are generally more applicants than places.

According to the BOLC model, newly appointed officers spend the first four weeks learning general military tasks and procedures.
