The Fort Lewis College is a public university in Durango in the southwest of the US state of Colorado . The college has approximately 4,000 students, 20% of whom are Native American.

history

The college was established in 1911 in connection with a contract under which Indian tribes received funding from the American government in exchange for land. Fort Lewis College has been based in Durango since 1956.

Sports

Fort Lewis College's sports teams are the Skyhawks . The college is a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Yannis Becker , a former player for Werder Bremen U23 and the Stuttgarter Kickers, has been playing for the Skyhawks soccer team since summer 2012 . Becker plays there on a scholarship.
