The Colorado Mesa University (CMU) is a state university in Grand Junction in the western US state of Colorado . Around 11,000 students are enrolled at the university. It is a so-called Liberal Arts College .
history
The college was founded as Grand Junction State Junior College in 1925 and renamed Mesa College in 1937 . In 1973 a bachelor's degree was offered for the first time and in 1988 it was renamed Mesa State College . The first master’s degrees were obtained in 1996 and in 2011 it was renamed to its current name.
Sports
The Mesa State College sports teams are the Mavericks . The college is a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Western Colorado Community College
The Western Colorado Community College , founded in 2005, is affiliated with Colarado Mesa University and offers professional training and an associate degree . Although it appears under its own name, the degrees are awarded by Colarado Mesa University .
