Richard "Ricky" Bartlett Schroder (born April 13, 1970 in Staten Island , New York City , New York ) is an American actor , director , screenwriter , producer and former child star ( The Little Lord ).

Live and act

Ricky Schroder was born in Staten Island to Richard and Diane Schroder. At the age of nine he made his screen debut in the film The Champ . For this role, he was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Young Actor in 1980. In the same year he had his worldwide breakthrough as a child actor. In the role of little Lord Fauntleroy in the film The Little Lord , he can still be seen on television every Christmas next to Sir Alec Guinness .

Schroder's paternal grandparents come from near Hamburg . They emigrated to the United States in the 1940s. Schroder has been married to Andrea Bernard since September 26, 1992. Both have four children together, two sons and two daughters. The family lives either on their ranch in Topanga , California or in their home near Scottsdale , Arizona .

Schroder has an older sister named Dawn who works as a model and actress. He is a member of the National Rifle Association . After Schroder changed his first name from Ricky to Rick at the age of 19, he announced on Larry King's talk show on January 9, 2007 that he would be performing under the name Ricky Schroder again from now on .
