action

The Powell family is actually a normal American family. Jim Powell is a frustrated phantom draftsman of the police. He is married to Stephanie, a brilliant and successful scientist. Although they still love each other, their marriage has lost its charm. All of that changes when Stephanie tries to take Jim and her two teenage children on a research trip to the Amazon Basin . Powell's plane crashes in the Amazon . Although the family members initially survived the crash unscathed, they notice that something has changed about them. Each of them has since had a unique ability that is otherwise only found in superheroes .

characters

Jim Powell

Jim has been married to Stephanie for 16 years and is the father of Daphne and JJ. He is a failed artist who is now working for the police as a sketch artist. He feared that his family would grow apart; so he had the idea of going on a family vacation. His special ability is that he is quite strong and therefore almost invincible. He can also jump very high and far and is resistant to fire and electricity.

Stephanie Powell

Stephanie has been married to Jim for 16 years and is the mother of Daphne and JJ. She is a successful natural scientist and the youngest ever Vice President of Research at Global Tech. With her new strength, she copes with her work in the shortest possible time and uses the time freed up to spend it with her family. As a scientist, she uses her powers with caution. She makes it her task to find out where these forces come from in order to protect her family if necessary. She has the special ability to run very fast. Later in the series, Jim and Dr King inject her with the serum to save their lives. This changes her ability to run so fast as to travel through time.

Daphne Powell

Daphne is the daughter of Jim and Stephanie and the older sister of JJ. She is 16 years old, an intelligent teenager, and reasonably popular in school. She has problems with her new powers at the beginning of the series and has to learn to control them. She has telepathic skills and can read minds. Her ability develops over the course of the series and allows her not only to read minds, but also to control them.

Jim Junior "JJ" Powell

JJ is the son of Jim and Stephanie and the younger brother of Daphne. Until he discovers his new powers and becomes a genius, he is considered the dumbest of the family. He is 14 years old and thanks to his newly acquired skill he is able to learn and understand things in a very short time.

Katherine "Katie" Andrews

Katie is Stephanie's work colleague and works with her at Global Tech. She grew up as an outsider and takes refuge in the world of comics and superheroes. She admires Stephanie and would love to be her friend. When Stephanie tells her that she has superpowers, Andrews realizes the chance, with her knowledge of superheroes, to become a close confidante of Stephanie. She later begins a relationship with Joshua, one of Dr. King. The two want to get married, but separate again due to the difficult circumstances. She later learns that she is pregnant from him and that the baby gives her telekinetic abilities .

George St. Cloud

George has been Jim's best friend since they were studying together. He is the assistant prosecutor for Pacific Bay. Despite his good job, he is dissatisfied with his life, partly because of his two failed marriages. As he is looking for adventure, the news from Jim that he has super powers comes in handy. He realizes that he and Jim could take over the work of the Pacific Bay Police and make the city safer.

Dr. Dayton King

Dr. Dayton is Stephanie's boss at Global Tech. He worked his way up to the top position at Global Tech. With his knowledge and experience, he is the perfect mentor for Stephanie, who largely owes her progress to him. In the course of the series, the family learns from Dr. King's experiments on criminals, which has led to the creation of new superheroes or supervillains, with whom the Powell family has to do frequently. At the end of the series it is revealed that Dr. King was just a henchman and acted on behalf of a higher-ranking organization led by Helen Burton ( Lucy Lawless ). Their mission was to create super beings with permanent super powers, like those of the Powell family.

As the series progresses, it is revealed that Dr. Dayton King injects himself the serum too, just so he doesn't die of cancer. Due to the fact that he would get cancer, he has the quality of being unable to die. In the last episode, he injects himself another injection of the serum and thus gains superpowers. He is stronger than Jim after the injection, as fast as Stephanie, and like Daphne, can control other people's thoughts.

Joshua

Joshua is Katie Andrews' boyfriend. In the beginning, he poses as JJ's made-up character, named Will. He is a commissioned superhero killer by Dr. King. His super power is that he can make any person forget about everything that has happened lately. He once used that with Daphne when she found out that Joshua had replaced former work colleague Dr. Chylles killed. He can also block his thoughts, but not the visible thoughts that Daphne can find out by touching his hands. He is also from Dr. King has been hired to spy on the Powell family because the woman is keeping a secret about her research. What Dr. What King does not know until then is that the Powell family has superpowers and is hiding this and the research for the family serves to educate the family.

Dr. Chiles

Dr. Chiles is Stephanie Powell's former work colleague. He wasn't very popular while he was still in the company. He was fired for not spying on Stephanie as reported by Dr. King was expected. He didn't want to be a gossip. Since then, the evil machinations on Dr. Chiles carried down and passed on to Stephanie, as Stephanie was never allowed to find out that Dr. King 'makes' the other super villains. He was murdered in episode 10 by a sleeping pill overdose from Joshua. The murder was once again commissioned by Dr. King.
