14 Hours is a 2005 American television disaster film directed by Gregg Champion . The film is based on true events and depicts the natural disaster that hit Hurricane Allison in Houston and the surrounding area in June 2001 within 14 hours caused devastating damage.
action
The movie opens on June 8, 2001 at 11:52 am. The devastating hurricane "Allison" is allegedly weakening in the city of Houston and the surrounding area. It caused enormous floods that almost brought life in the city to a standstill. In the Memorial Hermann Hospital, operations continue as they do every day. Seriously injured, young babies, transplant and burn patients are treated as usual.
But Hurricane "Allison" suddenly changes direction and comes back to Houston. Huge amounts of rain cause catastrophic conditions within the next 14 hours. A nurse notices water in the hospital basement that is rising steadily. Vital blood reserves are quickly brought to safety. The power fails during an operation, which can be continued for the time being thanks to the emergency power. But the protective walls of the generators no longer offer sufficient protection, so the hospital manager orders a complete shutdown.
Without electricity, many human lives in need of urgent medical care are at risk. Nurses and doctors do their best, but in the end the only option is evacuation to keep the patients alive. Chuck Worthle, chief of civil protection, cannot help at the moment, as there are no longer any emergency services available.
A race against time begins. But with Worthle's support, helicopters and ambulances are used to evacuate the patients unscathed to the surrounding hospitals.

The synchronization was produced at Bavaria Atelier in Munich under the dialogue direction of Johannes Keller.

Reviews
"Incredibly constructed disaster scenario in connection with relevant hospital series as a (television) snap shot that is linked to real environmental disasters."
“There are perhaps worse disaster films than 14 Hours. But there are certainly much better ones. Errors in production are paired with technical weaknesses and a mediocre script to create an overall picture that you certainly don't want to look at twice. "
