Fort St. Michael (Ugljan)
The Fort St. Michael ( Croatian Utvrda sv. Mihovila ) is located on the island Ugljan , before the mainland coast of Croatia lies.
Myths and Legends
Native storytellers say that the Fort St. Michael of fairies has been built, the huge boulders from the top of Kornat zoom dragged -Insel. In fact, one can find a huge bipartite monolith on the mountain top . There are also myths that claim that there was a corridor for witches to fly from southern Italy to central Europe. If you look south from the top of the castle , you can see the so-called "Bay of Light". Next to this bay is the so-called "Bay of Darkness". This naming results from the Christian faith that is deeply rooted in the region. Legend has it that the bays symbolize the ongoing struggle between good and evil .
