Fort Victor-Emmanuel

The Fort Victor-Emmanuel is a fortress at Aussois in Maurienne as part of the Barrière de l'Esseillon . It was built in 1818 under Victor Emanuel I to protect the Kingdom of Sardinia , to which Maurienne then belonged. The facility is located on a mountain spur at an altitude of around 1350 meters. Eight buildings belong to it. Today the complex is in need of restoration.
