Carsten Mohren

Carsten "Beathoven" Mohren (* July 20, 1962 ; † January 31, 2017 in Berlin ) was a German musician , producer , keyboardist , composer and sound engineer .

biography

Mohren grew up as the foster son of Dieter Hertrampf and his wife. He received piano lessons at the age of eight. He completed his studies at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in East Berlin .

He began his musical career with the band Taxi-Combo . Then in 1979 he founded the Gaukler Rock Band together with Joachim Kielpinski, André Herzberg , Alexander Schloussen and Jörg Skaba . The departure of front man André Herzberg, as a reaction to the refusal of the other members to play the piece Hans Currywurst , written by Herzberg's brother , led to the breakup of the band in 1981. Mohren then joined the band Die Freunde .

He then moved to tape Christin D . In 1984 Mohren went to Wolfgang Ziegler and Wir . When Ziegler left the band in 1986 to start his solo career, Mohren switched to Rockhaus . When the band broke up in 1998, he switched to Dirk Michaelis's band .

In 1996 he worked for the John Silver production Zebisch - Die Grube calls with Jürgen Ehle . In addition to him, Jürgen Ehle, Georgi Gogow , Stefan Dohanetz , Tobias Morgenstern, Peter Michailow, Thomas Putensen and Frank Hultzsch were involved in the project.

In Berlin and Bremen he took part in The Sound of Shakespeare & Rock n Roll . He also took part in Glam Slam and the Grips Theater in Berlin, where he met George Kranz , with whom he later opened a recording studio.

Mohren was an active member of the band Die Ossis , together with Acki Noack, who was with Rockhaus from 1995 to 1996 , Heinz Haberstroh, one of the founding members of Rockhaus , Henne Körbs from Scirocco and Bert Eulitz from Pom Fritz , and also their producer. He also worked for One Mans Trash feat. Jimi Jamison with. Mohren was a producer in various German cities as well as in Miami and San Francisco and in his own studio Metropolyx.

He has remained loyal to Rockhaus since joining in 1986 and toured Germany with the band until 1989 and 2005, 2006, 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2016.

On November 22, 2016, Mohren announced that he was terminally ill with cancer . He died on January 31, 2017 at the Helios Clinic in Berlin-Buch .
