The Fortuna Glacier is a glacier on South Georgia . It flows in a northeasterly direction to the sea, which it reaches immediately west of Cape Best . A branch branches off in an easterly direction and ends just before the west bank of Fortuna Bay .
The namesake of the name, which was made around 1912, is probably the whaling ship Fortuna , with which the Norwegian whaling entrepreneur and Antarctic researcher Carl Anton Larsen sailed in the waters around South Georgia between 1904 and 1905.
