forum for politics, society and culture is a Luxembourg author magazine that was founded in 1976 and sees itself as a participatory media project. The non-profit association forum asbl acts as the publisher . The magazine is financed through subscriptions, advertising partnerships, donations and a subsidy from the Luxembourg Ministry of Culture.

forum is politically independent and sees itself as a discussion platform. The authors come from a wide variety of fields and publish articles in German, French, Luxembourgish and English. The magazine publishes eleven issues per year with an average circulation of 2000 copies, which are sent to over 1000 subscribers and are also available in newspaper shops in Luxembourg.

In addition to current articles on politics, society and culture, each issue contains a key topic as part of a dossier. The topics vary and cover a broad spectrum, including the environment, society, religion, international and national politics, media, economy, data protection, culture.

All articles since the journal was founded are available on the website.

In addition to the monthly issue, forum occasionally acts as a publisher; the most recent publication is the so-called “Artuso Report” on the collaboration of the Luxembourg state in the persecution of the Jews during the German occupation. The association also organizes a regular series of events called the “public forum”, the aim of which is an open exchange on political, social and cultural issues.

history

forum was founded in 1976 as an information sheet for a youth parish and was particularly dedicated to environmental issues, development policy issues and reform within the Catholic Church. Forum attracted attention far beyond the Catholic milieu and saw itself as a counterpoint to the daily newspaper Luxemburger Wort, which was still considered the "diocese newspaper" in the 1970s. In the 1980s, forum became a magazine that portrayed the critical awakening within Luxembourg civil society and, in part, became its linguistic organ. Since the 1990s, social science, political and cultural support has been added to the changes in Luxembourg society. Since the early 2000s, forum has provided the university, founded in 2003, and research in and about Luxembourg with a place to make research results accessible to a wider audience.
