List of settlements in Frankfurt am Main

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The majority of the settlements in Frankfurt am Main were planned in the 20th century. The settlements can be broadly categorized into three phases: buildings in the context of industrialization (as a workers' settlement e.g. Riederwald , railway settlement Nied), in the context of the New Frankfurt project and in the reconstruction after 1945 refugee settlement (e.g. the Fritz-Kissel- Settlement ) and as social housing projects .

The Niederrad office district was built as a purely commercial area; newer projects such as Gateway Gardens and Europaviertel are designed as a mixture of residential and commercial. The new settlements, which were built on former barracks of the US armed forces, represent a special feature. With these areas and the associated housing areas, there are all variants, from the takeover without significant redesign, the redesign with redensification to complete convergence after soil replacement.

The most populous settlements are the north-west town with around 17,500 and Goldstein with around 11,000 inhabitants, the newly emerging Riedberg and Europaviertel settlements are designed for 13,500-15,000 and 10,000 inhabitants respectively. However - in contrast to the smaller districts of Frankfurter Berg, which emerged from settlements, with around 7,000 and Riederwald with around 5,000 inhabitants - they are not city districts in the statistical sense . The list shows the allocation of the settlements to the districts.
