Origin and development

Between 1952 and 1955 the Heinrich-von-Stephan-Siedlung was built by the non-profit housing corporation Rhein-Main . A total of 1,070 apartments were built, 110 of which are privately owned. Most social housing was built in the apartment buildings.

The urban development of the settlement is characterized by development along the road. Four to five-storey apartment buildings are located along Eschersheimer Landstrasse, Hügelstrasse and Grafenstrasse, and two to three-storey single-family row houses are located along side streets in the interior of the estate. Row buildings typical for the time of origin are only south of Friedlebenstrasse; however, these in turn have end-of-street buildings. Large private green areas provide sufficient space between the buildings.

The settlement is accessed internally via Grafenstrasse and Friedlebenstrasse and connected to Hügelstrasse and Eschersheimer Landstrasse. The terraced houses open up the terraced houses. Parking spaces for cars are mainly on the roadside. In the south there is a small public park. Shops are available in the area. The Hügelstrasse underground station is in the immediate vicinity. Most of the apartment buildings today belong to GAGFAH GmbH .

In the south, the settlement formerly bordered the Sinai nursery . The residential area on Walter-Leiske-Straße and Sinaipark have been located there since the 1980s .
