Foster and Lloyd

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Foster and Lloyd were an American country music duo, consisting of Radney Foster (born July 20, 1959 in Del Rio, Texas ) and Bill Lloyd (born December 6, 1955 in Fort Hood, Texas).

First steps

After first experiences in smaller bands, Radney Foster and Bill Lloyd began their professional careers in the early 1980s as songwriters. Both worked for the same music publisher in Nashville . From 1986 they decided to write and compose together.

Career

After initial successes, they formed a duo a year later. Her first single, Crazy Over You , peaked at number five on the country charts. Some follow-up productions also achieved high chart placements.

Their self-produced albums, which consistently contained their own compositions, were also successful. The 1989 published Faster And Llouder even made the crossover into pop music. In 1992, after completing their third album, they split up due to musical differences. Foster was more drawn to country, Lloyd to pop music. Both tried a solo career, with Radney Foster clearly being more successful. Bill Lloyd ended up working again as a songwriter and studio musician.

Despite their undeniable closeness to pop, Foster and Lloyd with their rockabilly sound are counted among the new traditionalists who stopped the decline of country music in the mid-1980s and brought a breath of fresh air to the scene. Similar to the duo The O'Kanes , they contributed to an increase in the musical level.
