The Fotoplastikon in Warsaw is located in a backyard building at Aleje Jerozolimskie 51 . It is the oldest imperial panorama in the world that has stood in its original location since it was erected .

In 1901 the Warsaw daily Kurier Warszawski reported for the first time about a photoplasticon. It was probably set up in its current location as early as 1905. The building itself was built around 1900 in the neo-baroque style.

During the German occupation from 1939 to mid-January 1945 , the almost 40 square meter room was not controlled by the German authorities, so that meetings of Polish resistance fighters could take place there. Warsaw residents who were critical of the regime also met here in the 1950s and 1960s, who were able to look at pictures from major Western European cities and listen to jazz music.

Before the war the Fotoplastikon was run by Józef Chudy and after the war by his son Tadeusz. The current owner is his son Tomasz. On July 16, 2008, the Warsaw Rising Museum signed an agreement with Chudy under which the museum took over the supervision of the operation of the photoplastic. This contract resulted from the decision of the city's residents to make the photoplasticon one of Warsaw's historical monuments. The extensive stereoscopic photo collection , consisting of around 3,000 copies , has since been presented in constantly changing thematic blocks. The Plastikon is one of the few devices of this type still in operation in the world.
